Minimal Window dealer

The Minimal Window system: a sliding door system with minimal profile view. At the beginning of 2009, Keller AG unveiled a completely new concept at the world’s largest construction trade fair: Minimal Window, which won the “Innovation Award for Architecture”.

Minimal Window is an almost profile-free system for fixed and sliding glass sections. This creates up to almost 4-metre high glass surfaces, both fixed and sliding components, without disruptive profiles. After years of development, we have created the perfect solution in this new concept. It goes without saying that any type of Glas Ceyssens’ glass can be used in a Minimal Window.

I want to replace my glass.

If your window profiles (wood, aluminium or PVC) are still wind-tight and sturdy, it may be profitable to replace the existing glazing with high-efficiency glazing or Cylite Eco Passive. This is subject to a simple adaptation to the existing window by the experts of Glas Ceyssens, the specialist in renovation.

The U-value of single-glazing greater than 4.2 W/m²K. The U-value expresses the amount of heat that passes between the two sides of a construction per second, per square metre and per degree of temperature difference. The higher the U-value, the more heat is lost. Normal double-glazing has a U-value of 2.9 W/m²K. The U-value of high-efficiency glass (HE glass) is 1.1 W/m²K to 0.6 W/m²K. This means that HE glass insulates up to almost 3 to 5 times (in the case of Cylite Eco Passive (with Heat Mirror film)) better than normal double-glazing.

Benefits

With high-efficiency glass you need to heat less to make the interior pleasantly warm. High-efficiency glass also provides greater living comfort. If it is -10°C outside and you heat to 20°C, the inside of normal double-glazing has a temperature of 9°C, while high-efficiency glass reaches 15°C. With HE glass, you can comfortably sit by the window throughout winter to read the paper, even if the radiator is not directly below.

High-efficiency glass has an invisible, filter-thin coating and a cavity filled with noble gas. In normal double-glazing, the cavity is filled with air. For façades facing the sun, coatings can be applied to the glass that reflect the sunlight and prevent overheating. This means that any additional cooling costs can be kept to a minimum.

Process

The Cylite Eco Passive process is based on an infra-red- and ultraviolet-resistant film (Heat Mirror) (developed for use in space) between 2 panes of glass. The result is that the Heat Mirror glass is a multifunctional glazing meaning you no longer have to compromise between insulating capacity, radiating capacity, radiation transmission, incidence of light, UV filtering, and it even lets 50% less noise through than normal double-glazing. Cylite Eco Passive offers the optimum combination, regardless of glass plate thickness, composition, colour or shape, and can therefore also be used in existing windows.

What does the government recommend?

The government recommends a U-value of the window (frame + glass) of not more than 2.0 W/m²K.

The U-value expresses the amount of heat that passes between the two sides of a construction per second, per square metre and per degree of temperature difference. The lower the U-value, the less heat is lost through a material.
